Shawnee Fire Tower Hike

  • Shawnee State Park Nature Center West Portsmouth, OH, 45663 United States (map)

Grab your day packs and your trekking poles! We're hiking up to Ohio's oldest fire tower! Built in 1924, Copperhead Fire Tower reaches 60 feet into the sky atop a ridge that maxes out at over 1200 feet above sea level.

We'll be meeting at the Shawnee State Park Nature Center at 10am and hiking up the Day Hike trail along a high ridgeline to the Silver Arrow bridle trail before hopping out onto Forest Rd 6. We'll stop for lunch at the historic fire tower and those brave enough can climb up to take pics of one of the most amazing vistas to be found in all of Ohio. Afterwards, we'll head back the way we came to end at our vehicles.
