The Buckeye Trail meanders around the entire Brushy Fork Bay of Lake Clendening, featuring many small ups and downs. The trail crosses Rt 799 in two locations, about 1.5 miles apart. This can be used to create a loop hike on the trail of about 12 miles.
The Tappan-Moravian Trail Ohio Scenic Byway is a designated road route passing through the lake region and northern portions of Harrison County. The route loops around Tappan Lake, passing through Deersville and Feed Springs. The name of Feed Springs was the location where travelers stopped to water their animals. The Scenic Byway Trail was named for the Moravian missionaries David Zeisberger and John Heckewelder. The trail was a Delaware and Wyandot Indian route, used by the missionaries to establish settlements at Schoenbrunn, Gnadehutten and Port Washington during the 1770s.
